It’s Sunday and I was looking for a reason to avoid the ironing. What’s better than testing whether I can get the PS3 controller to work on my Mac Pro. This morning I bought Trine 2 (so I can play coop with Schlaefer) and just now Rochard, and both are classic jump & run games. And for that, a gamepad is simply the best controller. After an intensive Google search and a parallel hangout with Schlaefer, I finally managed to connect the controller. Hurray! And immediately tested it in Trine 2.

What did I do?

  • Bluetooth must be enabled in System Preferences
  • Connect PS3 controller to Mac using USB cable (then check if it’s detected in System Profiler)
  • Press the PS button for 3 seconds, then disconnect the USB cable
  • A window should appear asking for the PIN - simply enter 0000
  • Start the game :-)

If there are problems, simply reset the PS3 controller. You’ll find an opening with the reset button on the bottom side.

Cheers, Lars
